Handling difficult and recurring faults

“Can't diagnose it, can't fix it, keeps breaking” - this is our main battlefield. A veteran technician with 30 years of experience leads the team against difficult and recurring faults.

Difficult faults go through the three-step method — reproduce the symptom, systematic elimination, verify the root cause — letting no abnormal signal pass; recurring faults are handled by statistical pattern and common root cause.

On completion we issue a fault analysis report and a preventive-measures list, then track and verify for three months to make sure the fault is truly closed and does not return.

Common Questions

Do you charge if you cannot find the fault?

Survey and diagnosis are charged on actual effort, stated clearly in the plan. Where diagnosis reaches a conclusion, the repair cost is quoted separately; where the fault genuinely cannot be located (rare), the survey effort incurred is settled honestly - we do not invent vague items like a 'successful diagnosis fee'. Our judgement is that most so-called unfindable faults are faults with insufficient data capture. Our method is to fit the system with recorders and let it confess on its own.

How long does an intermittent fault take to track down?

It depends on the recurrence cycle. We have cases located in seven days (data capture fitted, then waiting for the fault to reappear) and cases that took several weeks to catch. In urgent situations temporary monitoring can be installed first to keep production running while long-term capture continues. These problems cannot be rushed - but once the data is in hand, locating the fault is often faster than expected.
