Surveying the corrosive duty: the materials and fermentation environment of biofertiliser production are corrosive, and with the damp, equipment faces corrosion and wear combined: steelwork rusting and thinning, fasteners seizing, seals ageing, electrical contacts corroding. On arrival we assess the degree and rate of corrosion machine by machine, distinguishing 'surface rust' from 'structural thinning' - the latter is a safety matter and is dealt with first.

Material and lubricant selection countermeasures: water- and corrosion-resistant grease grades are selected, stainless or corrosion-protected fasteners considered at critical points, and seal materials chosen for medium compatibility. The basis of selection is written into the lubrication cards and the spare parts list, so every replacement continues the right material and nothing regresses when personnel change.

Anti-corrosion coating repair: corroded areas are derusted, the substrate prepared and the coating repaired, with the coating system chosen for the corrosive environment. A coating is a consumable, not a lifetime appointment: it goes into the periodic inspection plan, small damage is patched promptly, and major repair does not wait for widespread peeling.

Granulator & Dryer Drive Maintenance: Wear and lubrication checks on the granulator shell, support rollers and gears; drive chain, support roller bearing temperature tracking and seal condition checks on the dryer. Hot alignment of thermal equipment must be re-verified at operating temperature — cold-state data can be misleading.

Conveyor System Anti-Corrosion Retrofit: Rust removal and anti-corrosion treatment of conveyor frames, idler sealing checks (in corrosive environments, water and powder ingress seizes idler bearings instantly), and belt splice condition tracking. The retrofit proceeds section by section, starting with the most heavily corroded ones.

Moisture & corrosion protection for electrics: Local operator boxes, sensors and junction boxes are the worst-hit areas of corrosion: enclosure sealing rating verification, anti-corrosion treatment of contacts, early replacement of moisture-damaged components, and sealing of cable trays. Money spent on electrical corrosion prevention is far less than money spent on downtime and part replacement.
