Preventive items (tightening, lubrication, replacement, testing) and their intervals are set from failure modes and running data, consolidated into an annual preventive maintenance plan.

Execution is evidenced and results filed; each quarter we assess how well the preventive items work and adjust the ineffective ones, so the plan keeps evolving with equipment condition.

How the preventive plan is implemented

Baseline testing: before first implementation, key equipment is fully tested - vibration, temperature, current, insulation, oil condition, clearances and alignment - to form the baseline. Every subsequent reading is compared against the baseline: read the trend, not the single point.

Scheduling: maintenance items are scheduled into the calendar in step with the production plan: anything that can use a planned shutdown window goes into that window, so maintenance never competes with production for time.

Execution by card: lubrication cards and maintenance standard cards travel with the task - each item signed as it is done, data recorded on the spot. Execution records are the raw material of trend analysis and the basis of acceptance.

Condition monitoring: Class A equipment gets periodic vibration and temperature testing, with online monitoring added where needed. Bearing degradation, imbalance and misalignment have characteristic signatures in the data and can be seen weeks or even months ahead.

Closing out hazards: hazards found by testing are handled by grade: urgent ones arranged immediately, important ones scheduled into the next window, minor ones placed on a watch list. Every hazard has a handling record - nothing is quietly dropped.

Iterating the intervals: measured data is reviewed quarterly: intervals can be extended for stable equipment, tightened where degradation is fast, and newly seen failure modes added to the plan. The intervals get more accurate with every cycle.

Common Questions

How long does preventive maintenance take to show results?

The first month builds the baseline and the schedule, and failures do not necessarily drop immediately; after three months the trend data starts to speak; plants that keep it up beyond three months generally see unplanned downtime fall by half or more. That is not a guarantee - it is the actual outcome of most of the projects we have run. How fast results come also depends on the starting condition: plants with a large backlog of neglect spend the first months paying off the debt.

Our own fitters also do maintenance - how do we divide the work with you?

The usual split: your team handles daily inspection and first-level maintenance (cleaning, tightening, greasing) - we provide the standards and coach them; we handle second-level maintenance, accuracy calibration and condition testing. The division is written into the plan's interface table, with records bridging the handover points. As your team's capability grows the split can be adjusted step by step - that is a good thing.
