Dêqên Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture

Diqing (Shangri-La) is a Tibetan homeland on the south-east edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, distinguished historically by Tea-Horse Road trade, animal husbandry and Tibetan Buddhist culture, with almost no modern industry; the Third Front era left only scattered supply points. After reform and opening-up Diqing grew tourism on its world-class plateau ecology and Tibetan culture: Shangri-La (in 1997 the Yunnan provincial government declared Zhongdian to be "Shangri-La"; the county was renamed in 2001 and became a city in 2014), Pudacuo National Park (mainland China's first national park), Meili Snow Mountain (Kawagebo) and Songzanlin Monastery became the core scenic areas; plateau speciality agriculture (a main national matsutake area, highland barley, yak, Tibetan medicinal herbs) and clean energy (hydro, solar) were cultivated, forming an economy of "plateau tourism + speciality eco-farming". Ecological protection and the transmission of ethnic culture are the main threads of development.

In 2025 Diqing Prefecture's economy rests on one absolute pillar — plateau tourism: visitor numbers at Shangri-La, Pudacuo, Meili Snow Mountain and Songzanlin keep growing, and plateau wellness and eco-tourism are rising; the full matsutake chain (foraging, preservation, drying, deep processing, export — Shangri-La matsutake is known nationwide) and deep processing of highland barley, yak and Tibetan medicinal herbs are scaling up; clean energy (hydro, alpine solar) outputs steadily; tourism facilities (hotels, cableways, scenic-area operations) are important industrial carriers. The prefecture is a national key ecological function zone, industrial admission is limited to eco-friendly types, and plateau service conditions demand extremely much of equipment and crews.

Diqing's maintenance demand centres on plateau tourism facilities and speciality farm processing. Upkeep and mandatory annual-inspection rectification of scenic special equipment (the Pudacuo and Meili cableways, plateau hotel M&E, oxygen-supply and heating systems, sewage treatment) are rigid and specialised, and high-altitude (above 3,300 m) service demands extremely high equipment reliability and crew acclimatisation; upkeep of matsutake preservation (cold chain, controlled atmosphere), drying and deep-processing equipment is steady; highland-barley, yak and Tibetan-herb processing means large equipment counts; hydro electromechanical overhauls follow defined cycles. Our focus: plateau cableway and hotel M&E with oxygen and heating O&M, matsutake preservation and processing equipment upkeep, and resident hydro electromechanical overhaul crews.
