Lincang

Lincang (the old Mianning) sits on the south-west Yunnan border, its economy historically threaded through tea (raw material for Dianhong and Pu'er), sugarcane and border trade — it is the birthplace of Dianhong gongfu black tea (created by Feng Shaoqiu at Fengqing in 1938). Modern industry began with sugar and tea: after the 1950s Lincang (including Fengqing, Yunxian and Gengma) built mechanised sugar mills and tea factories, and cane and tea became the pillar crops. The Third Front era left a few supply points. After reform and opening-up Lincang grew border trade and processing through the Qingshuihe and Nansan ports, and cultivated nuts (the nation's largest macadamia plantings), sugar-tea deep processing and green energy (hydro, solar) — a border agro-industrial structure of "sugar, tea, nuts + green energy".

In 2025 Lincang's above-scale industry grew steadily. Sugar (cane sugar and deep processing, output among the province's top) is the largest industry; tea (raw material and refining for Dianhong and Pu'er) keeps its distinctive edge, with the Fengqing Dianhong geographical-indication brand carrying high value; nuts (macadamia growing and processing) lead the nation in scale; green energy (hydro, solar) and new materials are starting; border trade and the port economy (Qingshuihe port) advance together. The Lincang High-tech Zone and the Fengqing-Yunxian belt are the main carriers, and the city is building into a south-west-Yunnan border stronghold of green industry and speciality agriculture.

Lincang's maintenance demand centres on sugar and tea-nut processing. Sugar mills (milling, clarification, evaporation, crystallisation, centrifuging) hold large, strongly seasonal equipment (work concentrates in the crushing season), with defined overhaul and upkeep cycles; tea refining (withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, sifting) and nut processing (shelling, drying, sorting, pressing) involve large equipment counts with concentrated upkeep and automation-upgrade demand; hydro electromechanical overhauls are steady; O&M of border-port warehousing and logistics facilities is growing.
