Leshan

Leshan's modern industry began with brine and papermaking. During the war of resistance the Yongli Sichuan Works (Hou Debang's "New Tanggu" soda-ash trials) moved inland to Wutongqiao in Leshan, writing an important page in the history of China's chemical industry. Under the Third Front programme the Dongfeng Electrical Machinery Plant (nuclear-industry supply) and Changzheng Pharmaceutical were sited in Leshan, forming a base in electrical machinery, pharmaceuticals and salt chemicals. After reform and opening-up Leshan grew energy-intensive industry on Dadu River hydropower; the polysilicon industry started in the 2000s (the forerunner of Yongxiang) and gradually grew into a national crystalline-silicon PV stronghold.

In 2025 Leshan's crystalline-silicon PV industry held hundred-billion-yuan output, with leaders Yongxiang (the Tongwei family), GCL (Leshan) granular silicon and Fuhua Chemical (glyphosate) running at full production; construction of the "China Green Silicon Valley" advances, with cell and module supply continuing to fill out the chain; the Dadu River hydro cascade (Shaping, Zhentoba and others) supplies clean-power support; tourism (Mount Emei, the Leshan Giant Buddha, the Qianwei narrow-gauge railway) moves ahead with the nuclear-technology applications industry. Above-scale industrial value added grew steadily.

Yongxiang / Tongwei's Leshan base (high-purity crystalline silicon), GCL Leshan (granular silicon), Fuhua Tongda (glyphosate and phosphorus chemicals), Dongfeng Electrical Machinery, Leshan Radio, and Desheng Vanadium-Titanium Steel (among Sichuan's top-100 enterprises).

Leshan's maintenance demand concentrates heavily on continuous-process plant. Mechanical, electrical and instrumentation upkeep of polysilicon reduction furnaces, cold-hydrochlorination units and rectification columns is highly specialised, overhaul windows are concentrated, and full-establishment crews are needed; rotating equipment, anti-corrosion and explosion-proof maintenance on chemical plant (glyphosate, phosphorus chemistry) is a long-term market; overhauls of smelting and rolling equipment at vanadium-titanium steel (Desheng) are a traditional strength.
