Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture

Liangshan's modern industrial history runs on resource development and mega-projects. When the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Region (later a prefecture) was founded in 1952 industry was virtually blank; under the Third Front programme Xichang was sited as the core of the "Base 062" aerospace cluster (the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre was sited in 1970 and made its first launch in 1984), with supporting electronics and machinery enterprises relocated to Xichang; rare-earth resources in the Anning valley (the Maoniuping deposit) were developed from the 1980s, becoming China's second-largest light-rare-earth district. After 2000 large-scale Jinsha River hydro development (the "four reservoirs" — Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Baihetan and Wudongde — built in succession, Baihetan fully commissioned in 2022 with the world's largest 1,000 MW units) reshaped Liangshan's industrial map.

In 2025 Liangshan's above-scale industrial value added grew steadily, with clean energy the first pillar: the Jinsha-Yalong cascade cluster (Baihetan, Wudongde and others) leads the nation in generation scale, and integrated "hydro-wind-solar-storage" bases (Kela PV in the Yalong basin and others) are being built faster; the V-Ti magnetite (Xichang-Dechang) and rare-earth new-materials chains extend downstream; mechanisation is rising in the processing of speciality agriculture (Huili pomegranates, Zhaojue beef cattle, Yanyuan apples); Xichang is the central city of the Panxi economic region.

Operators of the Jinsha River cascade stations (Baihetan / Wudongde and others), the Yalong basin hydro developer (including Kela PV), Pangang Xicheng Steel-Vanadium (V-Ti resource comprehensive utilisation), the Mianning / Dechang rare-earth cluster, and the Huili pomegranate and Zhaojue beef-cattle processing group.

Liangshan's market turns on giant energy projects. Overhauls and preventive testing of hydro station M&E equipment (turbine-generator units, gate hoists, governor and excitation systems) are high-volume and highly specialised; upkeep of inverters, box transformers, mounts and cleaning equipment at PV and wind farms (in plateau conditions) is growing fast; overhauls of smelting and beneficiation equipment at steel-vanadium and rare-earth firms are traditional work; plateau and mountain conditions demand much of maintenance crews in adaptability. Our focus: hydro station M&E overhauls and scheduled inspections, outsourced wind and solar plant O&M, and overhauls of smelting and concentrator equipment.
