Langzhong

Langzhong was a secondary capital of the Ba state and the seat of prefectures through the dynasties; the old city's layout survives intact. In modern times it was known for silk and brewing: Baoning vinegar dates to the Five Dynasties, the curing craft behind Zhangfei beef has run for a century, and silk mills and vinegar workshops were Langzhong's earliest modern industry. During the Third Front programme, silk, machinery and pharmaceutical chemical plants were laid out here. After reform and opening-up the silk trade rose and fell; tourism took off after 2000, and in 2024 the old city received more than 30 million visitor trips — tourism and specialty industry growing together.

In 2024 Langzhong's specialty industry grew about 5.8%: silk and textile firms held their export orders, food producers like Baoning vinegar and Zhangfei beef completed branding and capacity expansion, and pharmaceutical chemical plants ran steadily. Tourism has opened a new service front: back-of-house hotel equipment (boilers, lifts, HVAC sets) and scenic-area facilities all need upkeep.

Langzhong's maintenance market is small, mixed and reputation-driven. At food and brewing plants the cooking, fermentation temperature control and filling-and-packaging equipment spans many vintages — old boilers and ceramic-jar conveying alongside newly installed automatic filling lines — and faults cut across mechanical, electrical and thermal, exactly the mix that needs a team strong on both mechanics and electrics. Loom and dyeing upkeep at silk weaving firms is traditional business; rotating equipment and corrosion-resistant pumps and valves at pharmaceutical chemical plants need periodic testing. Tourism back-of-house boilers, lifts and large HVAC sets are not production lines, but a breakdown in peak season means complaints on the spot — annual inspection contracts fit well. Langzhong business runs on a close-knit network: land one job well and the word carries.
