Changshou District

Changshou's industry was founded on "chemicals and steel". In the 1950s the Sichuan Fertiliser Plant (one of Chuanhua's forerunners) was prepared here, the starting point of the south-west's fertiliser industry; under the Third Front programme the Changshou Chemical Plant (chlor-alkali and organic chemicals) was expanded into a south-west chemical backbone. In 2006 Chonggang's environmental relocation was sited at Jiangnan town in Changshou, and the new Chonggang was completed and commissioned in 2011 (on an 8-million-tonne crude-steel scale), becoming one of the largest steel bases on the upper Yangtze and giving Changshou its twin pillars of "steel + chemicals". The Changshou Economic and Technological Development Zone was upgraded to national level in 2010, and the chemical new-materials chain (MDI, special resins, fine chemicals) has kept filling out and clustering.

In 2025 Changshou's above-scale industrial value added grew 6.9%, among the city's fastest. Chemical new materials (mainly the tenants of the Changshou Chemical Industry Park: MDI, epoxy resins, special chemicals) hold their scale and extend towards the high end; Chonggang (after the Baowu restructuring) runs plate and special-quality steel steadily; equipment manufacturing (wind tower tubes, pressure vessels, general machinery) and new-energy materials (lithium-battery material supply) are clustering; and Changshou Lake tourism moves with modern agriculture. The district is building into an important Chongqing advanced-manufacturing base.

Changshou is Chongqing's most concentrated district for overhaul work. The steel base (blast furnaces, converters, casters, hot-rolling units) holds an enormous equipment base, with year-round demand for mechanical overhauls, hydraulic-system retrofits and electrical automation upgrades; upkeep of pumps, compressors, heat exchangers and pipe racks on chemical plant (MDI, chlor-alkali, gas chemicals) is highly specialised with a steep safety bar; upkeep of welding and machining equipment at wind tower tube and pressure vessel plants is steady. Our focus: annual steel-line overhauls, taking turnarounds on chemical plant, and machine-tool and welding-equipment upkeep at tower-tube and vessel plants.
