Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County

Shizhu is a Tujia homeland; the Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County was established in 1983 (one of Chongqing's four ethnic autonomous counties, alongside Xiushan, Youyang and Pengshui). Historically its economy rested on mountain-goods trade in coptis, tung oil and raw lacquer — Shizhu coptis has over 300 years of cultivation history and supplies more than 60% of national output, earning it "China's Home of Coptis". The modern industrial base was thin, with a few Third Front supply points. In recent years speciality industries have been cultivated on ecological resources and improved transport (the Yu-Li Railway, opened 2013): scaled planting and deep processing of coptis, chillies ("Shizhu Red") and water shield (a main national producing area); wellness tourism at Huangshui town (high-mountain summer retreat) has formed a nationally known "migratory-bird" resort economy; and wind and solar development (mountain wind resources) has started.

In 2025 Shizhu County's economy was led by speciality agriculture and wellness tourism. The full Shizhu coptis chain (growing, processing, trading — the China Coptis Trading Market) and chilli deep processing (hotpot base ingredients, dried chillies, chilli products) rank among the nation's top in scale; water shield (exported to Japan and Korea) and high-mountain vegetables are industrialised; the Huangshui wellness resort receives large summer-escape visitor numbers each year, pulling hotels and property along; clean energy (wind, solar, hydro) is being developed steadily; and farm-product processing (decoction pieces, condiments) is the main industrial form.

Shizhu's maintenance demand centres on farm-product processing and new energy. Herbal-medicine and condiment processing (washing, cutting, drying, roasting, filling) involves numerous machines, with continuous upkeep and automation-retrofit demand; upkeep of chilli processing lines (drying, grinding, sauce making, filling) is steady; demand is growing for gearbox, pitch and box-transformer service at wind farms (in mountain conditions) and O&M at PV plants; and the packaged O&M market for wellness-resort hotel M&E facilities (central AC, boilers, water supply and drainage) is large. Our focus: farm-processing line upkeep and retrofits, outsourced wind and PV plant O&M, and custody of hotel M&E facilities.
