Dadukou District

Dadukou is a byword for Chongqing's steel industry. In 1938 the equipment of the Hanyang Iron Works and the Daye iron mine was moved into Sichuan and rebuilt around Shizi Mountain as the Steel Plant Relocation Committee ("Steel Relocation Committee"), producing China's first modern steel in wartime and supporting ordnance materials for the war of resistance; the district was established in 1965 and named after the "Dadukou" site where the committee was based. Under the Third Front programme Chongqing Iron & Steel (Chonggang) kept expanding into one of the south-west's largest integrated steel enterprises, its works stretching over ten kilometres with tens of thousands of employees. In 2011 Chonggang relocated to Changshou for environmental reasons, and the old works converted as a whole — Dadukou turned from "steel city" to big data and cultural creativity, with the Chonggang industrial heritage (the Cliff-Line Museum, the Industrial Culture Expo Park) becoming landmarks of urban memory.

In 2025 Dadukou's above-scale industry was in a restructuring period. The Jianqiao Industrial Park focuses on biopharmaceuticals (in-vitro diagnostics, medical devices), new materials and intelligent equipment; big-data intelligence (projects related to Chongqing's digital industry) advances alongside urban-type industry; the old Chonggang area is mainly developed for cultural creativity, commerce and residence, with the adaptive reuse of industrial heritage a national model of urban renewal. The district's economy is on the smaller side among the nine urban-core districts, but the transition path is clear.

The Jianqiao Industrial Park biopharmaceuticals cluster (IVD / medical devices), new-materials and intelligent-equipment tenants, cultural-creative operators on the Chonggang heritage site, and the urban-industrial tower cluster.

Dadukou's maintenance demand is mostly new-build and retrofit projects. Upkeep of cleanroom facilities and production equipment at biopharmaceutical firms (IVD, medical devices) is highly specialised; commissioning orders for new-materials pilot and production lines are rising; M&E packages (power distribution, compressed air, pure water) in old-plant conversion projects are a speciality line; and public-facility O&M in the Jianqiao park is packaged. Our focus: pharmaceutical cleanroom facility upkeep, new-materials line commissioning, and park M&E package works.
