Qianjiang District

Qianjiang (the old Qianzhou) lies deep in the Wuling Mountains, historically closed off by transport, with modern industry resting on mountain-goods trade in tung oil, medicinal herbs and timber processing. During the war of resistance Qianjiang Airport (built 1938) became a wartime air-transport node. Qianjiang prefecture was set up in 1988, driving infrastructure improvement; the Yu-Huai Railway (opened 2007) and the Baomao Expressway opened the Wuling Mountains to the outside, turning Qianjiang from a "closed mountain area" into a south-east-Chongqing hub. After the 2000s, on its power and transport conditions, Qianjiang brought in recycled-aluminium and metal new-materials projects, forming a heavy-industrial base rare in south-east Chongqing; mountain speciality agriculture (Qianjiang chicken giblets, silkworms, herbal medicines) extended into deep processing.

In 2025 Qianjiang's above-scale industry grew steadily. Metal new materials (recycled aluminium and deep processing, metal composites) are the largest industry; food and farm-product processing (silkworm silk, herbal medicines, mountain fruit and vegetables) keep their specialities; tourism-wellness (Zhuoshui Old Town, the Puhua underground river, the Wuling Grand Canyon) advances with commerce-logistics (the south-east-Chongqing distribution centre, airport and rail hub). The Qianjiang High-tech Zone is the main industrial carrier, building the central city of the south-east-Chongqing Wuling urban cluster.

The Qianjiang High-tech Zone recycled-aluminium and metal new-materials cluster, the silk and herbal-medicine processing group, mountain fruit-and-vegetable food processors, and tourism operators such as Zhuoshui Old Town.

Qianjiang's maintenance demand centres on metal processing and food equipment. Upkeep and energy-saving retrofits of recycled-aluminium melting, casting and rolling equipment (hot conditions) are core business; washing, drying, sterilising and packaging equipment at farm-product processing plants is large and broad, with concentrated seasonal upkeep; upkeep of scenic facilities (cableways, sewage treatment, smart-scenic-area systems) is a speciality supplement; and M&E package orders for newly built plants are steady.
