Dazu District

Dazu's industrial gene springs from its rock-carving artisan tradition: the Dazu Rock Carvings (Baoding Mountain, North Hill and others) were cut in the Tang and Song dynasties, and centuries of craft systems made Dazu a hardware-handicraft stronghold of eastern Sichuan — the small hardware of Longshui town (knives, scissors, locks, tools) has run continuously since the Ming and Qing, and "Dazu hardware" ranks with Yongkang in Zhejiang and Yangjiang in Guangdong. During wartime relocation Dazu took in some ordnance supply and machinery workshops; under the Third Front programme small Third Front machinery and chemical points were laid out. After reform and opening-up, market-oriented reform of Longshui hardware (private individual enterprises flourishing in the 1980s) formed the largest hardware distribution hub in the west; vehicle-motorcycle components (supplying local Dazu and Chongqing vehicle plants) and electronic information (introduced in the 2010s) developed on from there.

In 2025 Dazu's above-scale industry grew steadily. The hardware industry (forged cutlery, tools, locks and smart-hardware upgrades) holds its cluster scale and is turning towards CNC and branding; vehicle-motorcycle components (crankshafts, gears, body parts) supply Chongqing vehicle and motorcycle firms; electronic information (connectors, wiring harnesses, smart-terminal supply) is growing fast; tourism (the Dazu Rock Carvings, Changzhou Old Town) moves with modern agriculture (winter vegetables, thunder bamboo). The Dazu High-tech Zone is the main industrial carrier, building a pioneer zone for the rise of the Chengdu-Chongqing middle belt.

Dazu's maintenance demand centres on small and mid-sized manufacturing clusters. Hardware firms run many long-lived forging machines (air hammers, friction presses, CNC punches), heat-treatment furnaces and grinding machines, with heavy retrofit-refurbishment demand (pneumatic to CNC, fuel-fired to electric); upkeep of machining and assembly equipment at vehicle-motorcycle component plants is steady; custody-style upkeep of SMT and assembly equipment at electronics supply plants is rising; and stone-working machinery (for carvings and building materials) is a speciality niche. Our focus: retrofits and refurbishment of forging and heat-treatment equipment, packaged upkeep across machining clusters, and equipment custody at electronics plants.
