Wushan County

Wushan lies deep in the Three Gorges, historically living on shipping, salt and mountain-goods distribution (the Daxi culture site witnesses early civilisation on the upper Yangtze), with a thin modern industrial base; the Third Front era left a few supply points. Three Gorges resettlement (the county seat rebuilt as a whole) reshaped the urban pattern; industry has been cultivated on two threads — tourism and speciality agriculture: development of scenic areas such as the Little Three Gorges-Mini Three Gorges and Goddess Peak (south route) made Wushan a core node of Yangtze Three Gorges cruises; Wushan crisp plums (a national geographical indication for farm products), flue-cured tobacco and herbal-medicine planting have scaled up; and energy (hydro) develops alongside farm-product deep processing (crisp-plum fruit wine, drying).

In 2025 Wushan County's economy rested on tourism and speciality agriculture. The Little Three Gorges · Goddess Peak scenic area (5A) ranks among the top of the reservoir area for annual visitors, with Yangtze Three Gorges cruises and the Red Leaf Festival (Wushan red leaves) forming seasonal visitor peaks; the full crisp-plum chain (growing, cold chain, sorting, deep processing, e-commerce) keeps expanding in output value, and its standing as the nation's number-one crisp-plum county is firm; herbal medicines (codonopsis, gastrodia) and flue-cured tobacco have scaled up; clean energy (hydro) is steady; and farm-product deep processing (fruit wine, drying, decoction pieces) is starting. Wushan is building into a strong Three Gorges reservoir county of tourism and speciality agriculture.

Wushan's maintenance demand centres on tourism facilities and agricultural equipment. Upkeep and mandatory annual-inspection rectification of scenic special equipment (cableways, cruise boats and dock M&E, elevators and escalators) are rigid work with high safety requirements; crisp-plum cold-chain refrigeration units, sorting lines and drying equipment are strongly seasonal, with concentrated upkeep; upkeep of herbal-medicine processing equipment (washing, slicing, drying, extraction) is steady; and the packaged O&M market for hotel and guesthouse M&E facilities is growing.
