Wuxi County

Wuxi (the old Daning) is a thousand-year salt capital: Ningchang Old Town rose on the development of its salt springs, producing salt continuously from the pre-Qin era through the Ming and Qing — one of the earliest industrial towns on the upper Yangtze, its "ten thousand salt-kiln smoke" of the Qing at its height; the decline of the salt industry (production halted after the 1950s) turned Ningchang Old Town into an industrial heritage site. Wuxi lies in the Qinling-Daba Mountains, long closed off by transport, with a thin modern industrial base; the Third Front era left a few supply points. In recent years speciality industries have been cultivated on ecological resources: Wuxi potatoes (a national base for virus-free seed potatoes), eagle tea and herbal medicines such as duhuo have scaled up in planting; Hongchiba (alpine meadows), Ningchang Old Town and the Lanying Grand Canyon have been developed for tourism; and industry is mainly primary and deep processing of farm products.

In 2025 Wuxi County's economy was led by speciality agriculture and tourism. Its specialities are the full Wuxi potato chain (virus-free seed potatoes, processed potato products) and scaled planting and processing of eagle tea and herbal medicines (duhuo, codonopsis); tourism development (the Hongchiba scenic area, the Ningchang Old Town salt-culture heritage, the Lanying Grand Canyon) keeps advancing; clean energy (hydro, solar) is starting; and farm-product deep processing (potatoes, tea, decoction pieces) is the main industrial form. The whole county sits in a national key ecological function zone, so industrial admission is limited to eco-friendly types.

Wuxi's maintenance demand centres on agricultural processing equipment. Potato processing (washing, peeling, slicing, drying, packaging) and tea processing (fixation, rolling, drying, sorting) involve numerous machines with strong seasonality, so upkeep and technical-retrofit demand is concentrated; upkeep of herbal-medicine processing equipment (washing, slicing, drying, extraction) is steady; upkeep of scenic facilities (cableways, hotel M&E, sewage treatment) is a speciality supplement; and M&E package orders for newly built farm-processing plants are rising. Our focus: farm-processing line upkeep and automation retrofits, and O&M of scenic and hotel M&E facilities.
