Shapingba District

Shapingba is a microcosm of China's wartime industry and the inland relocation of science and education. From 1937 universities such as National Central University and Chongqing University moved to Chongqing, and Ciqikou-Shapingba became the wartime cultural district; ordnance firms including the Ordnance Administration's 25th Arsenal (forerunner of the Jialing Machine Factory) were sited along the river. Under the Third Front programme metallurgical defence firms such as Chongqing Special Steel (Chongte) were expanded in the Geleyuan-Jingkou belt, forming a special-steel and machinery corridor. After reform and opening-up Chongte was restructured; the University Town (built from 2005) and the Xiyong Micro-Electronics Park (established 2007) made Shapingba one of Chongqing's main carriers of electronics processing trade, with laptop contract-manufacturing giants Quanta and Inventec settling in Xiyong.

In 2025 electronic information was the pillar of Shapingba's above-scale industry: smart-terminal output (laptops, handset components) in the Xiyong Micro-Electronics Park held its scale and is upgrading towards integrated R&D and manufacturing; Qingfeng High-Tech City focuses on intelligent connected NEV components and high-end equipment; the Western (Chongqing) Science City (Jinfeng section) lays out intelligent connected vehicles, integrated circuits and R&D platforms; and after the relocation of Chongqing Special Steel its former site has turned into a cultural-creative and commercial carrier.

Quanta Chongqing (laptop manufacturing in Xiyong), Inventec Chongqing, the Qingfeng High-Tech City auto-parts cluster, Science City firms such as Southwest IC Design, and the Chongqing University family of sci-tech service enterprises.

Shapingba's maintenance demand concentrates on electronics manufacturing. Laptop complete-machine and structural-part plants hold enormous fleets of SMT lines, moulding machines, CNC machines and test equipment, so outsourced servicing and rapid fault handling are the mainstream; upkeep of stamping and welding equipment at Qingfeng auto-parts firms is steady; commissioning of newly built R&D pilot lines (Module 06) and laboratory M&E packages in the Science City are on the rise. Our focus: packaged annual equipment upkeep at electronics plants, accuracy maintenance across CNC fleets, and taking pilot-line commissioning.
