Chengkou County

Chengkou lies on the southern foot of the Daba Mountains, part of the Sichuan-Shaanxi revolutionary base area (in 1933 the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army established the Chengkou County Soviet, part of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet area). Historically its economy rested on mountain-goods trade in raw lacquer, tung oil, medicinal herbs and cured pork; the craft of "Chengkou aged cured pork" has been passed down for centuries. With high mountains and distant roads, modern industry was virtually blank, and the Third Front era left only scattered supply points. In recent years industries have been cultivated on ecological and red resources: aged cured pork (a national geographical-indication product) has upgraded from family workshops to standardised processing; walnuts, chestnuts and herbal medicines (duhuo, gastrodia) are planted at scale; Huang'anba (alpine meadows), the Kanggu scenic area and red tourism have been developed; and solar and wind (mountain wind resources) have started.

In 2025 Chengkou County's economy was led by speciality agriculture and tourism. The full aged-cured-pork chain (pig farming, curing, smoking, packaging, e-commerce sales) ranks first in county industrial output value, with continuing investment in standardised processing plants and cold-chain facilities; walnut and herbal-medicine deep processing, and the industrialisation of high-mountain vegetables and honey, are advancing; tourism (Huang'anba, Kanggu, the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet memorial sites) is receiving steadily more visitors each year; clean energy (solar, wind, small hydro) is starting; and farm-product processing (cured meats, decoction pieces, food) is the main industrial form. The county is a national key ecological function zone and a revolutionary base area, so industry is limited to eco-friendly types.

The Chengkou aged-cured-pork consortium (curing, smoking, processing and cold chain), the walnut and herbal-medicine processing group, the operators of the Huang'anba and Kanggu scenic areas, solar, wind and small-hydro project owners, and high-mountain vegetable and honey processors.

Chengkou's maintenance demand centres on cured-meat processing and agricultural equipment. Upkeep demand concentrates on curing vats, smokehouses (combustion and exhaust systems), slicing-packaging equipment and cold-store refrigeration units at cured-pork plants, with automation and environmental retrofits of smoking systems (fume treatment) a speciality line; upkeep of herbal-medicine processing (washing, slicing, drying) and walnut processing (shelling, sorting, pressing) equipment is steady; upkeep of scenic facilities (cableways, hotel M&E, sewage treatment) is supplementary work; and O&M demand at solar and wind plants is starting. Our focus: smoking and cold-store system upkeep and retrofits, farm-processing line upkeep, and O&M of scenic and new-energy facilities.
